Hey, I’m Kyle.

I’m a writer who loves to distill complex information into stories that help readers understand the world around them. I work as a news writer in the Office of University Communications at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where I get to write about talented people doing incredible things at a place that I love.

I have a degree in journalism from the U of A and I used to work as a newspaper reporter in Tucson and Washington state.

For what it’s worth, I also:

  • really enjoy riding bicycles;

  • like to take photos;

  • am a student in the Master of Legal Studies program at the U of A law school;

  • grew up in Casper, Wyoming (but was born in Tucson, long story);

  • was randomly photographed riding my bike past Time Market and the photo appeared in the New York Times. (As a journalism nerd, I think it is extremely cool that my bike and I made it into the paper of record. My loved ones are exhausted of hearing about this.)

This site captures some of the work I’m most proud of. If you want to get in touch, please find me at kyle.mittan@gmail.com. Thank you for stopping by!
